Natural Attractions
Quirky and culture go hand-in-hand with Madison's unique blend of students, ABDs (all but dissertation), politicians and freaks. The UW's international representation - many years, students represent every country in the world - and local's need for fine cuisine allow Madison's restaurants a steady stream of clientele as well as ability to serve up world-class fare. Stroll down State Street or Willy Street for idiosyncratic city flavor, Regent Street for good ol' fashion boozing.
Historic Attractions
Madison's two largest lakes, Mendota and Minona, create an Isthmus in the center of town where the State Capital Building is built. Only the nation's Capital Building in Washington DC is bigger.
Entertainment
On every corner, Madison's freaks will surprise you with their originality. The Madison Civic Center provides a steady menu of nationally known act. The city's large student population assures a steady stream of up-and-coming bands. The Union's Rathskeller and Union Terrace are world famous for imbibing while watching the sailboats on the lake or the student entertainment.
